Since 1975 Concept Lighting has been a presence in the architectural lighting field in New Zealand. From infancy based in Grafton, Auckland, the company grew from strength to strength. Soon relocating to Albany on Auckland’s North Shore the company expanded the manufacturing division and began to secure a range of diverse agencies focused on the demands of architectural illumination.
The company remained in these premises for over 20 years with two expansions during this time. Once again the company was growing and needed a fresh new building to go with the fresh new image that was developing and in 2005 the company moved to the current premises at 60 Apollo Drive, Rosedale. Here the custom 210m2 showroom and office space were developed to showcase the best on offer from our overseas agencies and our own range of manufactured products. Each year the showroom and building is refreshed to display the latest technology and luminaires. In 2008 along with a new shareholding the name was changed to Concept Lighting Architecture Limited, reflecting the company’s focus on architectural lighting.
The international luminaire manufacturers that Concept represent are among the top of their fields and each share the same core values as us. We work together with them to develop new and customised products. All are selected to ensure that our customers’ expectations are exceeded on each and every project.
Collectively there are over 2500 individual product lines we can access, ensuring we can offer options for all aspects of a project, with all the benefits that come from using a single supply source; such as co-ordination of deliveries, support with onsite problems and the ability to modify product during the course of a project without hassle.
We utilise regular monthly consolidated air shipments from our suppliers to provide fast product turnaround along with regular stock and project shipments via sea freight.
The Directors of Concept Lighting Architecture come from diverse backgrounds and together have created the foundation for the company to become one of New Zealand’s leading lighting suppliers.

Robert Ginns leads the organisation as Managing Director; with a background in theatrical, industrial and commercial lighting, energy management, formal business studies and lighting qualifications.
Stephen Brooke is heading up our design, sales support and marketing teams along with responsibility for our lighting consultants. Stephen has formal fine arts and design qualifications and has had great experience in both lighting and business management.
Greg and Chris Smale joined the organisation as Directors however do not perform day to day roles in the company. Their collective experience in business development, property, manufacturing, accountancy and best business practice will ensure success in taking the organisation forward.
Our aim is to set ourselves apart from the other options available to our customers. The key to achieving this is following our mission statement and its definition of the way we conduct business.
